Introduction

This project was designed between the weeks of February 24 to March 14, 2025, as part of the curriculum of the AEC Gestion de Réseaux et Sécurité des Systèmes at Collège de Maisonneuve.

The goal of this project was to simulate the deployment of a complete enterprise network infrastructure using virtual machines, Windows and Linux servers, Cisco routing images (2 Cisco Cloud Services Router 1000V), and a variety of network services. The project began with the design of an IP addressing scheme starting from the network 10.100.1.0, and progressed through key implementation steps such as router configuration, Active Directory deployment, DNS, DHCP, NTP, FTP, web services, RAID and LVM storage configuration, and access control through ACLs and group policies.

This documentation outlines each phase of the project, the technologies used, the configuration steps taken, and the final outcomes, supported by technical explanations and screenshots.

Project Scope

This project includes the initial design and segmentation of the private network 10.100.1.0/24 into five subnets. Three of these were assigned to specific functional zones within the enterprise network:

In addition, the subnet 10.100.1.96/30 was allocated for the point-to-point link between routers R1 and R2. The remaining address space starting from 10.100.1.100 and onward was reserved for future scalability and the potential expansion of the network infrastructure.

This simulated environment was built using VMware Workstation to host all virtual machines, including:

The infrastructure was developed as part of a simulated IT services company, Vantage Grid Cloud Services, with the goal of deploying and testing a fully functional enterprise network. I was responsible for the full lifecycle of the environment: from IP planning and router configuration to Active Directory deployment, file services, web hosting, and user access control.

🔹 Step 2 – Configure Routing (Hostname, Domain, User, SSH).

These settings prepare the router for secure access via SSH and set up user authentication.
